Pool Title Fall 2014 Housing Front Desk Worker Pool-All Residence Halls
Position Summary

Will work front desk coverage during assigned shifts. Will assist the RA staff in maintaining a safe environment for all residents. Will monitor all those students and guests entering and exiting the building and assist residents in checking their visitors in and out. Will regularly maintain the hall visitation log and visitor passes. Will regularly assess the condition of any common spaces around the desk and report any maintenance issues. Will maintain a clean, organized desk space and inventory supplies. Will maintain log for the checkout of all equipment and the condition of the equipment. Will answer the front desk phone and take messages as needed. Will demonstrate a working knowledge of campus agencies, and their services and functions. Will serve as a source of information and referral. Will respond to student behavior which is inappropriate and not in keeping with the policies and procedures of the Office of Housing and Residence Life and the University, behavior which endangers the health or safety of residents, and behavior which results in damage to the residence hall. This responsibility involves confronting the behavior in question, notifying the appropriate staff and utilizing Residence Life and University disciplinary procedures. Will maintain any sensitive information and only share with appropriate University staff. Will act in a polite, professional manner at all times and dress appropriately.

Compensation is $7.25 per hour. Front Desk Workers are required to work a minimum of 10/hours per week, when the halls are open. Front Desk Workers may work up to 20 hours per week when the halls are open. Front Desk Workers are required to return for mandatory fall training a few days prior to the start of the fall semester.

Required Qualifications

1.Registered for at least 6 hours of classes during each semester of employment.
2. Must be available to work approximately 10 hours or more each week in desk schedule. Anyone hired that cannot maintain the minimum number of hours as established by the RHD may be not be employed.
3.Must be willing to work nights and weekend.
4. Must be in good academic and judicial standing with the University and maintain a 2.25 cumulative GPA.
5. Ability to work in team environment.
6. Positive attitude.
7. Adapts well to change.
8. Attention to detail.
9. Desire to have a fun and work to assist peers.
10. Must be able to pass a criminal background check
